The Basics

🖼️ The big picture on how my tool selections and service decisions are interconnected.

The last time it was time to brush up on my technical skills, I built ergberg.tk to get some hands-on experience. I had a few basic technology goals I wanted to accomplish, but I also wanted to allow enough room for side trips off the beaten path.

The Big Picture

The overall goal is quickly outlined: I want to develop an application that takes advantage of the current state of the art and whose design allows me to gain new experience in the practical evaluation of the technical alternatives.

My Bucket List for this Project

That's a broad definition that many ventures could fit in. So I started with a list of things I wanted to accomplish:

  • Make a Home in the Cloud
    • Set up GCP: compute ✔️ / network / functions
    • Set up Mail ✔️, DNS ✔️, CDN ✔️
  • Build a modern, Cross-Platform Frontend
    • Build Vue components ✔️
    • Style with Tailwind ✔️
    • Build a Progressive Web App (✔️)
    • Later: checkout Quasar / Electron / Cordova
  • Integrate Backend Service
    • Offer Login / SSO
    • Craft and run a Backend Service / API (✔️)
  • Build a blog to document the venture
